Dubai, UAE, 6 February 2024: Hundreds of fashion industry professionals gathered at Dubai Design District (d3) last night for the second day of Dubai Fashion Week (DFW). The event featured collections, collaborations, and launches by Anaya, Humariff, and Maison Sara Chraibi, as well as a notable collaboration between regional icon Mrs. Keepa and Sotheby’s Dubai for the launch of the Mrs. Keepa Studio-Couture SS 24 collection.
Co-founded by d3, a member of TECOM Group PJSC, and the Arab Fashion Council, DFW is set to continue at the global creative ecosystem until 8 February.
MAISON SARA CHRAIBI
Sara Chraibi’s “La Terre” collection arrived at DFW fresh off the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week SS2024 runways. Drawing inspiration from Earth and its intricate details—the cracks, fertile sediments, veins, and endless interlaces—the collection unfolds in earthy tones of ochre, russet, and deep purple, elevated by opulent gold, bronze, and copper hues. The colours merged with aquatic greens and blues, reinforcing the narrative of the collection and celebrating the essence of life. The meticulously crafted pieces feature complex embroidery and perlage, weaving a compelling tale of resilience and renewal
MRS. KEEPA
DFW Member Mrs. Keepa celebrated the launch of the eponymous Mrs. Keepa Studio-Couture SS 24 collection in collaboration with the renowned auction house Sotheby’s Dubai. The ‘Inhale Collection’ featured avant-garde designs inspired by the shapes, textures, and movements of underwater creatures, from ethereal Sea Lilies to the fluid dance of Sea Nettles, and explores the theme of escapism.
Dyson launched the all-new Dyson Airstrait™️ straightener at DFW, marking the first time the product has been used at a fashion week globally. Their pioneering hair styling tools were used to style 20 models at Mrs Keepa’s underwater-inspired show.
HUMARIFF
Humariff’s collection at Dubai Fashion Week was developed collaboratively by Tamam Humariff and students from the Humariff Academy, Amina Nariman and Zara Khodei. Inspired by mirages in the desert, the unique pieces captured the beauty of nature through different seasons with blooming flowers, rhinestones, beads, and sequins. The exchangeable three-dimensional flowers served as prints, appliqués, and individual accessories.
ANAYA
Anaya’s “La Nuit” collection marked a transition from the brand’s soft and sensual aesthetic into a bold reflection tailored for the modern-day power woman. Drawing inspiration from the postwar glamour of the 1950s, icons like Dovima and Audrey Hepburn, and Richard Avedon’s black and white contrasts, the collection conveyed austere sophistication. The mood, both visual and musical, channelled the past through music reminiscent of Frankie Valli and the Flamingos.
Breaking away from the brand’s pastel palette, Anaya embraced a monochromatic spectrum featuring blacks, off-whites, nudes, botanical greens, and vibrant reds. The fall wardrobe included uniquely crafted silhouettes, three-dimensional botanical motifs and draping, figure-hugging corsets, delicately embroidered laces, exaggerated sleeves, elongated capes and sparkling sequins. The collection intertwined traditional fabric manipulations with modern twists, incorporating micro velvet, shiny satin, silk taffeta, Mikado, liquid organza, sequins, and double-sided silk satins.
