Born in Ethiopia and thrust into immigrant life in the Netherlands at the age of 3, I realized it’s not just about surviving, it’s about thriving. Hey, I’m Kanessa Muluneh. I’ve turned barriers into building blocks, transforming dreams and raw determination into tangible success. With a little bit of tenacity and a whole lot of passion, I launched ventures that hit million-dollar statuses, even established the first female American Football League in Europe.

I’ve managed multiple businesses, but MULU, fondly named in my mother tongue Amharic, signifying ‘full,’ is by far the most special. It’s my baby. While I’ve sold others, MULU is still with me, my passion project.

My life journey—transforming from a plus-size powerlifter to a resilient mom who’s tackled health challenges and rocked a weight loss of 67 kg post-surgery—ignited the flame for MULU. It’s more than just a brand; it’s a belief and a beacon for full-figured people globally. I get it—the struggle to find comfortable and chic wear is real. Therefore, MULU isn’t just a business; it’s a solution to a problem many women and men face. My other ventures taught me valuable lessons, but MULU is distinct.

I’ve poured my heart and soul into it. As a self-made business-player, my goal orbits beyond stitches and style. It’s about lighting the torch of change and inspiring others to champion their narratives, wrap them in grace, power, and stunning MULU wear,  and fostering growth in their own business ventures.
