Dubai, UAE, 10 October 2023: The region’s definitive fashion fixture, Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) – co-founded by Dubai Design District (d3) and Arab fashion Council (AFC) has kicked off.
On Sunday evening (8th October) an exclusive inauguration dinner was hosted by Dubai Fashion Week to honour Wes Gordon at Eugene Eugene, bringing together a gathering of devoted fashion aficionados hailing from various retail groups, esteemed celebrities, influential personalities, and a curated selection of media professionals. The event saw the presence of Carolina Herrera’s Creative Director Wes Gordon, President Emilie Rubinfeld, and other prominent members of the Carolina Herrera team, who travelled from New York to attend the Dubai Fashion Week event.
Then, last night the second edition of Dubai Fashion Week fully got underway with the esteemed guest of honour for SS24, Carolina Herrera, unveiling in the presence of Wes Gordon a spectacular presentation that took place in an immersive experience merging the realms of fashion, art, beauty and entertainment. The exclusive event, by invitation only gathered top tier media, regional and international buyers, influencers and celebrities who witnessed the collection that reflected a vision of sophisticated elegance.
Distinguished by its confident, sharp lines seamlessly entwined with the gentle charm of romantic pastel tones and captivating floral patterns, the stage was metamorphosed into a magical garden adorned with abundant flowers and lush greenery, accentuating the floral elegance of the designs.
One of the looks featured an updated signature piece from Carolina Herrera’s repertoire: the classic cotton shirt. This timeless staple was paired with a sleek and sophisticated black pencil skirt, setting the stage for the sartorial journey that was to follow. As the presentation unfolded, the shirt made another reappearance, this time alongside a silver skirt adorned with hand-embroidered sequins. The enchanting ambience was also a space to showcase selective designs such as floral Kaftans curated to tailor the specific taste of the region.
The late 90s aesthetic permeated the collection, as evidenced by gauge knits, slingback kitten heels, sheer lace separates and clean-cut dresses in cotton delicate polka dot for a perfect day dressing summer wardrobe.
The Carolina Herrera woman deeply values her femininity reflected in the famous sweet colour palette of pink, lilac, sunshine yellow and white that crowned the collection, but also amidst this soft colour hues, the allure of black made an appearance, notably embodied in an alluring trench gown in shimmering satin.
Following the presentation, a celebratory dinner took place at Caviar Kaspia, commemorating the success of the event in the esteemed company of the Dubai Design District team, Arab Fashion Council team, key stakeholders of Dubai Fashion Week, members of the DFW committees, and the Carolina Herrera team.
